Who Should Apply
The Prerequisite Trades Academy is designed for individuals who are motivated to explore and prepare for a career in the skilled trades. This program is ideal for:
- High school students exploring post-graduation career pathways
- Recent graduates seeking hands-on, career-focused training
- Young adults interested in entering the construction and building trades
- Individuals who learn best through hands-on, practical instruction
- Students seeking exposure to multiple trades before selecting a specialization
No prior trade experience is required.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for admission:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Applicants must be between 17 and 26 years of age.
- Applicants must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the skilled trades.
- Ability to participate in hands-on, classroom-based instruction
- Commitment to attendance and program expectations
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and classroom policies
Available Trades
Students will be introduced to foundational concepts across multiple skilled trades, including:
- Carpentry – Framing, measurement, tool usage, and basic construction techniques
- Electrical – Electrical safety, wiring fundamentals, and basic circuitry concepts
- Welding – Welding processes, safety procedures, and hands-on fabrication
- HVAC – Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning fundamentals
- Plumbing – Plumbing systems, fittings, and basic installation concepts
